Gifted & Talented (GT)
The mission of the Pilot Point ISD Gifted & Talented Program is to provide services that help gifted students develop skills in self-directed learning, critical thinking, research, and communication. Students demonstrate these skills through innovative, creative products and performances that exceed expectations for their age, experience, or environment.
High school graduates who have participated in services for gifted students will have produced products and performances of professional quality as part of their program services.

PPISD accepts recommendations for Gifted & Talented (GT) screening and assessment of any student currently enrolled in Pilot Point ISD. A request for GT Screening & Assessment may be completed by parents, teachers, counselors, peers, community members, or the student themselves. If you are interested in your child/student being screened and assessed for Gifted and Talented services, please complete the referral form during the designated window.
PPISD reviews students who have transferred to PPISD and were identified as Gifted & Talented in their previous district.

In order for a student to be considered for GT Services in Pilot Point ISD, he/she must be screened, and data is collected. After an informal teacher and parent checklist is collected, a student is initially screened using data from their MAP (or similar) assessments. If your child successfully meets the district standard on the assessment, they are eligible for further assessment. The GT Committee meets to review all data to determine if there is an educational need for the student to receive gifted program services.

Please click on the link above titled "Referral for GT Screening" located underneath the table with dates. The form will be active during the appropriate windows of time for screening and for the appropriate grade(s) during the windows.

Grades K-5:
Identified Gifted & Talented students are served by GT-trained teachers in core content areas. GT students learn to deepen their understanding of topics through the use of thinking tools such as those in Depth & Complexity.*Kindergarten students are identified during the spring semester and begin receiving gifted services by March 1st through a GT-trained teacher.
Grades 6-12:
Students in sixth to twelfth grades identified as gifted and talented are served by a GT-trained classroom teacher. GT students are grouped in advanced classes. -
