Threats and Behavioral Threat Assessment

Pilot Point ISD recognizes the importance of responding to safety concerns early and, when possible, before they escalate. As educators entrusted with the care of our students, we take the responsibility of safety and security very seriously.

Pilot Point ISD maintains a comprehensive student behavioral threat assessment and management process designed to support the safety, security, and well-being of everyone in our schools. This process complies with the requirements of Texas Senate Bill 11 and aligns with statewide best practices in school violence prevention.

The purpose of behavioral threat assessment in K-12 schools is to proactively identify and evaluate concerning behaviors within the school community so that appropriate strategies and supports can be implemented. Threat assessment is a structured, preventative process designed to reduce the risk of violence, maintain a safe learning environment, and provide appropriate interventions for individuals who may be demonstrating concerning behaviors.

Pilot Point ISD’s behavioral threat assessment and management process is non punitive and operates separately from disciplinary or criminal investigative procedures. The goal is to address concerns early, support students when needed, and maintain a safe and positive learning environment for the entire school community.

Safety and security is a shared responsibility. Pilot Point ISD encourages all students, staff members, parents, and community members to report any safety concerns or potential threats to school officials or the appropriate authorities.
