PPISD Guidance and Counseling Mission Statement

The mission of the PPISD Guidance and Counseling Department is to develop and sustain a comprehensive counseling program that supports students in becoming lifelong learners and responsible, productive citizens. Through academic, career, and personal/social support, we promote the personal growth, success, and development of every student.

PPISD Guidance and Counseling Purpose

The purpose of the PPISD school counseling program is to promote and enhance student learning and overall success. In partnership with administrators, teachers, students, parents/guardians, and the Pilot Point community, our counseling program focuses on three key areas: academic success, college and career readiness, and personal/social development.

Our comprehensive school counseling program supports this purpose through four key components:

Guidance

Our goal is to teach students transferable skills—skills that are valuable in every career, regardless of job title or field. These skills support our district mission and are developed through a variety of experiences, opportunities, and settings across all PPISD campuses.

Responsive

The purpose of responsive services is to support students whose immediate personal concerns or circumstances may impact their educational, career, personal, or social development. Services are provided based on the student’s level of need and may be preventative, remedial, or crisis-oriented.

Planning

The purpose of individual planning is to guide students in planning, monitoring, and managing their educational, career, personal, and social development. Through individual planning, students and their parents/guardians receive information, guidance, and resources to help them explore postsecondary options and make informed decisions about their future.

Support

The purpose of system support is to identify, coordinate, and connect students with resources and opportunities available on campus and within the community. Using student and campus data, PPISD counselors help develop, implement, and continuously improve an effective school counseling program that meets the needs of our students and school community.
