PPISD COUNSELING MISSION STATEMENT:
The mission of the PPISD Guidance and Counseling Department is to create and sustain effective comprehensive counseling and guidance programs and services which help students become lifelong learners and responsible productive citizens by promoting their personal growth and academic development.
PPISD COUNSELING PURPOSE:
The purpose of the PPISD school guidance program is to promote and enhance student learning. Working closely with administrators, teachers, parents, students and the Pilot Point community to accomplish goals that focus on: academic success, college/career readiness and personal/social development.
FOUR COMPONENTS OF THE PPISD COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE PROGRAM:
- Guidance Curriculum
- The purpose of the guidance curriculum is to teach students how to develop transferable skills; skills that are used in every job no matter the title or field.
- The guidance curriculum supports the mission of PPISD and our Portrait of a Graduate. It is taught in a variety of ways and settings across all campuses in PPISD.
- Responsive Services
- The purpose of responsive services is to intervene on behalf of students whose immediate personal concerns or circumstances put their continued educational, career, personal, and social development at risk.
- Responsive services are based on level of need, and can be preventative, remedial or crisis oriented.
- Individual Planning
- The purpose of individual planning is to guide all students as they plan, monitor and manage their educational, career, personal and social development.
- Through individual planning, parents/guardians are provided information on postsecondary options.
- System Support
- The purpose of system support is to identify and coordinate resources and activities on campus and in the community that benefit students.
- Using student and campus data, PPISD counselors support the development and effective use of our school counseling program.
